Bran Muffins Recipe

2 cups boiling water
6 cups all bran
2 cups sugar
1 cup shortening
4 eggs
5 cups flour
5 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 quart buttermilk 

Pour boiling water over bran, stir and set aside. Cream together sugar and shortening, then add eggs. Blend and set aside. Stir together flour, baking soda and salt. Alternate adding flour mixture then buttermilk to sugar mixture, blend well. Stir bran mixture into batter, blend. Spoon into buttered muffin tin. (About 5 dozen muffins.) Bake for 20 minutes at 400º.
