Havasu Magazine’s
editor and publisher, Bobbi Holmes, is also a
writer and photographer, who moved to Lake
Havasu
with her parents in 1968. She first ventured into journalism as the
co-editor of her high school newspaper at Lake
HavasuHigh School. In 1976, she earned her
Bachelor of Arts Degree at California State University of Fullerton, with a
degree in Communications, and an emphasis in photography. From 1985 to 1991, she published the
California
based monthly community newspaper, Mountain/Hi-Desert Guide, and the full
color publication, Wrightwood Magazine.
In 1991, when her father became terminally ill, she sold
Mountain/Hi-Desert Guide and returned to
LakeHavasu with her family, to help her
parents operate
Havasu Palms, Inc., the oldest resort on
LakeHavasu. In 1995, she publishedWhere the Road Ends, a history of Havasu
Palms. The book is sold at the HavasuMuseum and online at Amazon. In
1999, she launched Havasu Magazine,
LakeHavasu's first online magazine. For six years, she worked in real estate with her husband, Don
Holmes, specializing in commercial and residential real estate. She became a
Certified Commercial Sales Specialist (CCSS), and was a Graduate of the
REALTOR® Institute (GRI). During her time in real estate, she served as the
public relations chairperson of the Lake Havasu Association of Realtors. While Don Holmes is currently an
associate broker with Arizona
Turquoise Properties, Bobbi Holmes left real estate in 2008 to pursue her
interests in writing and photography. In 2011 she started
ABC Photography, a
Havasu based business, specializing in informal event photography and
digital editing services. She also creates websites, through her company
Robeth Publishing,
LLC, and is the webmaster for the local museum. In December of 2011, Bobbi Holmes published her contemporary romance,
Lessons, under the pen name Anna J. McIntyre, and is currently working on a
sequel, entitled The Senator’s Secret.Lessons is available in eBook format
and print, sold online at Amazon,Barnes and Noble and
other venues. Bobbi and Don Holmes have strong ties in
Lake
Havasu City. Her mother, Caroline Johnson (who was
one of the owners of Havasu Palms), lives in Lake
Havasu City, as does Don Holmes’s mother, Doris
Castro. Their children, Robert “Scott” and Elizabeth
Holmes, both graduated from
LakeHavasuHigh School. Today, their son, Scott, lives with his wife, SeAnne, in
Bend, Oregon, where Scott has
an Outback Restaurant and SeAnne is working to get her nursing degree. Don
and Bobbi’s daughter, Elizabeth, is a professional graphic artist and lives
with her husband Joe Mackey, who is in the Coast Guard. They have one
daughter, Addison. Currently they are stationed in Alaska. Don and Bobbi Holmes live in
Lake Havasu City
with their Australian shepherd, Lady and Spooky the Halloween Cat – both
pets are featured in their own line of greeting cards.
