It’s been almost nine years since I started the Havasu Magazine website. Although my roots are in Lake Havasu (my family moved here in 1968 when I
was 13 years old), my husband and I lived for a time in Wrightwood,
California. There I published a monthly community magazine, and an
annual, full color magazine. So, when I moved back to Havasu, and was
finally able to get the internet (when we moved from Wrightwood, local
Internet connection had not yet made it to the mountain community), it was
only natural for me to make the move to an online publication.
In the beginning we published at one of those free hosting sites, which were
so popular in the 90’s. Any wannabe webmaster could throw up a site,
using the simple online web builder the host offered. We graduated to
a hosting site, where we had to create our own webpages, via a funky little
web software program I had purchased. Back then it cost $100 a month to
host our site.
Eventually we began creating Havasu Magazine using Microsoft ‘s FrontPage.
After a few years I began getting harassed for using the dreaded FrontPage.
After all, I couldn’t be a real webmaster if I was using FrontPage.
And to be fair, there were some standard and compliance issues with the
program. So, I decided to catch up with the times, and switched to
Microsoft’s new Expression Web.
Once again I am trying to “catch up” with the times, which is why I finally
decided to add a blog to the Havasu Magazine site. So here it is!
I wonder what exciting and titillating Havasu inspired blog material I will
be publishing in the coming days? Come back….and see!
