LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. (2007)–
The Boat Parade of Lights, one of the city’s signature and most popular
events, is set for its 25th Anniversary Run December 7 and 8, the first
full weekend in December. Entries have already been coming in from the
community and beyond, but there is always room for more. “Last year was
one of the largest turnouts for the parade we’ve had, and we would love
to see even more this year,” said Tammy Kastelz, chairperson for the
event.
Kastelz is an active member of the London Bridge Yacht Club, which for
the second year in the row has coordinated the event. “It’s a lot of
work to make the event happen, but when you see all those boats, it’s
definitely worth it,” she said.
Anyone interested in participating can download the entry form from
their website,
www.lhcboatparadeoflights.com. Forms can also be picked up at West
Marine, the Visitor Center at the entrance to the English Village, the
Nautical Inn and Lake Havasu Marina.
Another tradition started last year by the club and carried over for
this year is looking to the community for judges. “We did a contest last
year where people could enter their name to be a judge,” Kastelz said.
“It was so popular that this year we’re going to draw two names.” Entry
forms are located at the Visitor Center, Mohave Wireless, West Marine
and the Naked Turtle Bar and Grill. The deadline for entries is November
24. The two winners will decide the winning entries along side District
III Mohave County Supervisor Buster Johnson, Partnership for Economic
Development President/CEO Gary Kellogg and Lake Havasu City Vice-mayor
Margaret Nyberg.
