The construction of the Heart of Havasu park at the city hall/civic center
complex has begun. Diablo Landscaping of Lake Havasu City began to place
boulders, plants and trees yesterday.
The park is this year’s Havasu Leadership Development Program class project.
Upon completion in late May, the park will feature three heart-shaped
surfaces with low-water plants, trees and shrubs along with landscape art
and a sundial.
Funds are still being raised to assist with the project. The class is
selling engraved bricks to line the hearts; drawing tickets to win an
original painting by class member and local artist Pam Reinke; and Heart of
Havasu Tee Shirts. Other sponsorship levels are also available to help with
the installation of benches and other features in the park. All levels of
sponsorship offer a great opportunity honor loved ones and friends.
Havasu Leadership Development is a program of the Lake Havasu Area Chamber
of Commerce. Previous class projects include the construction of Yonder
Park; Friendship Park at the WAHS Shelter; and the barbeque and picnic area
at SARA Park ball fields. For more information call
